Creating a new discount can feel a bit overwhelming but we have broken it down into a few simpler steps.
Discount Title
This is a title for your reference only and will not be seen by your customers. Use something descriptive so you can easily find it later.
Discount Type
Choose the type of discount you would like to create. Each one gives some basic examples of how you might use it. If you later decide to change the discount type it will reset the discount tiers.
Select Products
This section does not apply to the Cart Total discount type so it will not be displayed. For other discount types, this section allows you to select the products and/or collections you wish to include in the discount. You may select both products and collections.
You may also select the checkbox to "Apply to all products" if you wish to include your entire store in the discount.
How are discounts applied?
This selection controls how products are allowed to qualify for the discount and its tiers (set up in the next section).
For example, if there is a cart containing the following items (colors are variants of the same product):
- 1 - Blue Backpack
- 2 - Black Backpacks
- 1 - Climbing Rope
The highest quantity qualifying for a discount for each option:
- Per product: 3 (blue and black backpacks)
- Per variant: 2 (black backpacks)
- Any options: 4 (all items)
Create Discount Tiers
A discount needs 1 or more tiers to configure how customers qualify for a discount as well as how much of a discount and what is discounted. For each tier choose the item quantity or amount spent to qualify for the discount tier. Then choose the discount amount and if it should be a percentage discount or a specific dollar amount. Finally, choose whether that discount should apply to items or the cart total.
On the right-hand side, you have options to duplicate a tier or to remove it.
Messaging
To fit your store's brand and messaging you can customize the messages that appear within your storefront.
You can use the special variables to place real-time value in your messages.
{{quantity}} will be replaced with the quantity or amount needed to qualify for the next discount tier.
{{discount}} will be replaced with the value of the discount tier (including the $ or % symbol).
You can click to copy each of the values to make them easy to paste into the desired message text.
Campaign Settings
If you wish to automatically start and stop a discount at a specific date and time you may. Start time is required and defaults to the current time. The end time is optional.
A customer must reach checkout before the end time or they will not receive the discount.
